How can we help?

Getting started

How do I publish my first project?+

On the homepage, choose Drop a file to upload a file or a zip, or Describe a site to have Doope design a webpage you can review and publish. When you publish, sign in with Google, GitHub or a 6-digit code emailed to you. Your account starts on the Free plan: one live site up to 5 MB, with a small Doope badge. Choose a paid plan any time for more projects, bigger uploads, or your own domain.

What can I host?+

Any static website or file: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, a built dist/ folder from any framework (React, Vue, Svelte, Next.js, and more), PDFs, images, or a .zip of any of these. Doope unpacks the zip and serves its contents.

How do I update my project?+

Open your project settings and use Update to upload a new version. Your link stays the same and the content updates. Earlier versions are saved in Version history, where you can restore them in one click: the previous version on Free, your last 3 on Starter, your last 10 on Solo, and every version on Pro and up, as storage allows. The same goes for the replies in the AI editor. Saved versions count toward your storage, and when space runs low an update clears that project's oldest saved versions first.

Is there a file size limit?+

Each file or ZIP can be up to 5 MB on Free, 25 MB on Starter, 75 MB on Solo, and 10 GB on Pro and Studio. Most projects are a few MB. Large uploads resume automatically if your connection drops.

Can I download my project?+

Yes. Open the project in My projects, then in Version history open the ⋯ menu on the current version and select Download .zip to get its current files. This works on any plan, and after a plan ends too. Drop the zip on Doope anytime to publish it again.

How do I collect emails from my page?+

Publish your page with its form as it is, then open the project, go to Sign-ups and turn on Collect sign-ups. Every form on the project that asks for an email starts collecting, with nothing to change in your files, and Sign-ups shows which pages it found. Each sign-up appears there as it arrives, ready to export as a CSV, and you can send visitors to a thank-you page of your own. Forms that already send to another service, like Mailchimp, stay as they are. Doope emails you new sign-ups, at most once an hour, and you can turn that off in Sign-ups. Sign-ups come with Solo and up.

Making a site with AI

Who can see a site while Doope is making it?+

Only you. A site from Describe a site stays a private draft while you review it and ask for changes. When it looks right, select Publish, pick its link and who can visit, and it goes live. Later changes wait in the editor the same way, until you select Publish changes.

What are AI credits?+

A new site uses 2 AI credits and each change uses 1. Visual edits are free. If something goes wrong before Doope starts writing, you get those credits back. Free includes 10 a month, up to 4 a day; paid plans include more, and the pricing page lists each allowance. The editor shows how many you have left, and so does Settings → Billing & usage.

Open this article
What happens when my AI credits run out?+

Your projects stay online, and visual edits keep working. A fresh allowance arrives on the 1st of each month (UTC). For more right away on a paid plan, add 30 AI credits for $10 from the editor or Settings → Billing & usage; they last 12 months and are used once your monthly credits run out. On Free, choose a plan for more.

Can I change the words and images myself?+

Yes, on every plan, Free included. In the editor, turn on Visual edits, click any text or image on your page, and change it in place. Visual edits leave your AI credits untouched. Save your changes, then publish them when you are ready.

How do I change a site Doope made?+

Open the project and choose Edit with AI. Ask for a change in the chat, such as "make the header blue" or "add a pricing section", and Doope updates the draft. Each change uses one AI credit, and your live site stays as it is until you select Publish changes.

Custom domains

How do I connect my own domain?+

Custom domains are available on Solo and above. Add your domain in your project settings or on the Custom domains page, and Doope shows you the DNS records to add: a CNAME that points your domain to Doope and a TXT record that confirms it is yours. Once DNS verifies, usually within minutes, HTTPS is set up for you.

Open this article
Is HTTPS automatic?+

Yes. Once your DNS records verify, Doope issues an HTTPS certificate for your domain and renews it for you.

Can I buy a domain through Doope?+

Doope connects domains you already own. Buy one from any registrar, like Cloudflare, Namecheap, or Porkbun, then connect it from the Custom domains page.

What happens if my sites get more visitors than my plan includes?+

On a paid plan your sites stay online. The first 10% over your plan's monthly visits or bandwidth is included. After that, each extra 10% is billed at 10% of your plan's monthly price: Starter $0.80 per extra 1,000 visits or 1 GB, Solo $1.50 per extra 10,000 visits or 5 GB, Pro $3.50 per extra 50,000 visits or 10 GB, Studio $8.80 per extra 100,000 visits or about 100 GB. Yearly plans use the same amounts. On the 1st we email you the total with a payment link, due within 7 days, and Settings → Billing & usage shows it with a Pay button. Extra traffic comes to at most your plan's monthly price in a month; past that, your sites take a short break until the 1st. If a payment is still open after its due date, publishing changes, new projects and going over are paused until it's paid, and 14 days after its due date your projects take a short break until it's paid. Paying brings everything back within a minute, and a new plan or credit pack waits until then. On Free, a site takes a short break once it's 10% over.

Teams

What can Editors and Reviewers do?+

Editors publish and manage projects. Admins are Editors who can also invite and remove teammates. Reviewers can view projects, analytics, sign-ups and version history, which suits clients and stakeholders. The owner manages billing and the team. Pick a role when you invite someone, and the owner can change it anytime from the Team page.

Open this article
How many teammates can I invite?+

Pro includes 1 editor seat and 1 reviewer seat. Studio includes 5 of each. Admins use editor seats, and a pending invite holds its seat until it is accepted, canceled or expires. The owner never uses a seat. The Team page shows how many seats are in use. Business plans come with a custom number of seats.

Open this article
Why can a teammate only view projects?+

When a team has more Editors than its plan includes, for example after a plan change, those extra Editors get view access until a seat is free. The owner can free a seat by removing someone, moving someone to Reviewer, or upgrading, and editing comes back right away.

How do I deploy from a script or CI?+

API access is available on Solo and above. Create a key in Settings → Developers, then POST a zip to /api/v1/deploy with the key as a bearer token. It works in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, and any other CI system. The docs have full examples.

Open this article
What are the rate and size limits?+

Upload size and project count follow your plan, as listed on the pricing page. The deploy API accepts up to 60 deploys an hour per account. The Errors section of the docs lists every status code and what it means.
